Surge Warranty

Confident in our ‘state of the art’ technology Masterplug Surge products come with a ‘Connected Equipment Warranty’.

In the unlikely event that a surge passes through this protection device within 3 years of purchase and damage occurs to the connected equipment, Masterplug will pay up to the amount shown on the product packaging to repair or replace the equipment.

Masterplug stands by the quality of its Surge products.

What is Surge?

Hundreds of power surges can occur in your home and office every day. The switching on/off of fluorescent lights and household appliances like refrigerators, washing machines and can cause power surges and spikes.

An electrical device that is exposed to surges and spikes will either fail immediately if the surge is large enough, or will fail after a period of time due to the continued strain. Damage can be catastrophic to electronic devices containing an integrated circuit, such as PCs, home entertainment systems and other electrical appliances. Even low energy surges can cause gradual component degradation failure. Surges can cause computers to crash and corrupt software and data.

Masterplug Surge Protection products include semi-conductor devices called Metal Oxide Varistors (MOV) and gas tubes which act like a variable resistor. When no surges or spikes are present, electricity flows normally, but if a surge is detected the MOV diverts the surge harmlessly, protecting valuable equipment.

How to Claim

Call Masterplug Technical support on 03300 249 279 to register your claim. Masterplug will issue a returns authorisation number. Under no circumstances will a returned product be accepted without an authorisation number. Send your product to Masterplug for verification of surge damage. Address the packaging as follows:

The code states:

  • What equipment you are claiming for under the ‘connected equipment’ warranty
  • How the equipment sustained damage
  • The date of occurrence
  • Include a copy of the warranty (A copy of warranty can be printed off at the end of registration)
  • Proof of purchase

Your claim must be made within 7 days of occurrence.

It may also be necessary to have the damaged connected equipment inspected by an authorised service centre and a report available (cost of which will be reimbursed if your claim is upheld.) This will be discussed with the help desk advisor when you call to register your claim. Masterplug will have your surge related, damaged ‘Connected Equipment’ inspected by their authorised service centre. No claim will be processed unless it has been approved in writing by Masterplug. You will be notified within 3 weeks of the status of your claim.
