Masterplug Surge Warranty

Confident in our ‘state of the art’ technology Masterplug Surge products come with a ‘Connected Equipment Warranty’.

In the unlikely event that a surge passes through this protection device within 3 years of purchase and damage occurs to the connected equipment, Masterplug will pay up to the amount shown on the product packaging to repair or replace the equipment. Masterplug stands by the quality of its Surge products. Please see terms and conditions.

What is Surge?

Common Causes of Power Surges

Hundreds of power surges can occur in your home and office every day. The switching on/off of fluorescent lights and household appliances like refrigerators, washing machines and can cause power surges and spikes.

Dangers of Power Surges to Electronics

An electrical device that is exposed to surges and spikes will either fail immediately if the surge is large enough, or will fail after a period of time due to the continued strain. Damage can be catastrophic to electronic devices containing an integrated circuit, such as PCs, home entertainment systems and other electrical appliances. Even low energy surges can cause gradual component degradation failure. Surges can cause computers to crash and corrupt software and data.

How Surge Protection Works

Masterplug Surge Protection products include semi-conductor devices called Metal Oxide Varistors (MOV) and gas tubes which act like a variable resistor. When no surges or spikes are present, electricity flows normally, but if a surge is detected the MOV diverts the surge harmlessly, protecting valuable equipment.

Terms and Conditions

Warranty Period: Three (3) years from the date of purchase.

  1. Masterplug will repair or replace, at its option, any equipment (“connected equipment”) that is damaged by a transient voltage surge or spike (an “Occurrence”), while properly connected through a Masterplug Surge Protector to a properly wired power line with protective Earth. Masterplug will spend, to repair or replace the damaged equipment at its option, an amount equal to the fair market value of the equipment or the original purchase price of the equipment, whichever is the less, up to the maximum stated for the particular product.

All Masterplug surge protectors must be plugged directly into the power source and must not be ‘daisy-chained’ together in serial fashion with other power strips, UPS’s, other surge protectors, or extension cables.
  4. Masterplug reserves the rights to review the damaged Masterplug surge protector, the damaged equipment and the site where the damaged occurred. All costs of shipping the Masterplug Surge Protector and damaged equipment to Masterplug for inspection shall be borne initially by the purchaser. If the claim is approved, the cost of shipping will be reminbursed by Masterplug.
  5. Masterplug’s total liability in connection with a breach of this warranty shall be limited to the fair market value of the connected equipment or the original purchase price of that equipment, whichever is the less, up to the maximum stated for the particular product.
  6. Masterplug shall not be liable for any loss of profit, or any special, indirect or consequential loss, or any costs, damages, charges, fees or expenses except for liability that Masterplug is not allowed to exclude by law.
